Negotiation Fatigue

Negotiation Fatigue
Lassitude and cynicism induced by the repeated failure of Middle East peace talks.

Discussing President Barack Obama’s meeting with the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jason Burke wrote in The Guardian:

Leave five minutes for the pleasantries, 30 seconds for the coffee to be poured, and 84 and a half minutes will remain to kick-start what is perhaps the most ambitious bid to bring peace to the Middle East for nearly a decade.
Assessing the many challenges Barack Obama will face in his attempt to foster a peace deal, Burke observed:
First there is massive “negotiation fatigue”; local populations are now “allergic to so-called peace processes,” in the words of one local analyst with long experience of brokering agreements between hostile parties.
